Follow my tumblr!

I took on way too much in terms of academics (six classes...), extracurriculars (president, secretary x2, co-chair, sorority), and social life.

As such, I haven't had a lot of time to update my blog...and now it's finals.

I created a tumblr, where I can just post a picture, a quote, or something else that inspires me and it take like 60 seconds. It's not lengthy posts like this but little short clips of what inspires me!

I've been good about updating it, and it posts twice a day.

kitchen

Life's been happening, blogging hasn't been.

Speaking of living, I know where I'm living next year! I have a double with a friend complete with a living room, kitchen, and bathroom.

I cannot wait to have people over! I currently have a single in one of the least-desirable dorms on campus, and five people is basically maximum capacity, if that.

I am so so excited to decorate! You better believe that the second I emailed in my public policy quiz this afternoon I was on Lilly Pulitzer home, Anthropologie home (hello employee discount this summer), and Williams-Sonoma.

Here are some cute kitchen items I'm considering for next year:

I'm messy in the kitchen so...

Will I cook? Um, maybe. Will I bake? Definitely!

I'll use this...

to make this...

and maybe these too...

The perfect flowers for measuring flour...

{via Anthropologie}

stay tuned for houseware.

gmail

I started using gmail when I was given a college gmail address. I absolutely love it. It gives so many opportunities to organize. I was inspired to do this post by this College Prep post

Lately, I have be so organized with gmail. I cannot stand to have more than 20 emails in my inbox. I have labels for academics, Alpha Chi Omega, the political review at my school, my early childhood literacy club, Model UN, career, my internship in DC this summer(!), and of course a big red 'TO DO' label. I label every single email and I always archive into the corresponding folders as soon as possible.

While I was planning a big conference in February, emails would come in faster than I could respond to them, and it felt so good to archive or delete those when it was over. Having a well labeled, fairly empty inbox is the electronic equivalent of cleaning your room or having a fresh mani/pedi. You just feel so put together and good.

I also immediately write down all dates into my Lilly Pulitzer agenda. I do use ical, but something about having the book keeps me more organized. Especially since it often has sticky notes on top of the pages when they fill up. I'm overcommitted...

One of my friends recently asked me to text him to remind him about a big interview he had because I'm so organized. HA! It took years of effort to cultivate this, and it's only maintained by my borderline OCD relationship with gmail and my Lilly agenda.

Also, clearly, I have the pink and purple theme for my gmail...

elephant fridays

TOMS - love the cause, but I always thought the shoes were ugly until I saw...

ELEPHANT TOMS! Will be purchasing over spring break and wearing all.the.time. my only concern is that they're white and will get dirty. As Stuff White People Like says "Every time you buy a pair of these canvas shoes they donate a pair to a child in need in the third world. Of course, instead of buying a pair of shoes, a white person could just donate the money they were going to use on shoes to the TOMS charity and let two people in the third world get new shoes. But that’s not a realistic possibility, not with summer right around the corner."

Note: I arrived home from school (and from Maine where I was visiting friends) to find a pair, size 6.5., on my bed. Thanks, Mom!!)

This is just cute...

Le Petit Prince

"on ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux."
...
"one sees clearly only with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes." - Le Petit Prince

{via Scholastic)

I recently reread The Little Prince and I realized that I had forgotten what a wonderful book it is. You can read what is purportedly a children's book in under an hour, and it is full of amazing quotes and sentiments. Take a break to read this and it will be the best hour of your day!

I truly feel as though I have grown up in the year and a half I've been in college more than in any other time in my life. Adults always seemed to know everything, but now that I'm growing up, I realize adults only had the answers when everything was simple. Maybe children see reality better than anyone, because their reality hasn't been clouded by the half-truths and shades of gray of adulthood; this is a major theme in The Little Prince that got me thinking.

"Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them" - The Little Prince
